Ovens Auditorium Ranked 9th Worldwide in Theatre Ticket Sales
Ovens Auditorium has been ranked the number 9 theatre venue in the world in ticket sales according to Pollstar’s Year End Ticket Sales Report, published early February. According to the report, theatre shows at Ovens Auditorium between Nov. 2020 and Nov. 2021 sold 91,842 tickets and grossed $8,122,722.

ODELL Providing 3-D Printed Face Shields for Atrium Health
Atrium Health issued a call to anyone with 3D printers to help them fill an immediate and lifesaving need – a shortage of face shields. Of course, we jumped on the opportunity to help! We were able to successfully print one a day for them – each one takes about 14 hours to print.
A brilliant student at Charlotte Latin School came up with the prototype.
We hope to continue to produce as many as we possibly can to fill this need.

Gaurav Gupte Appointed to Public Art Commission

Congratulations to Gaurav Gupte, who was recently appointed by the City of Charlotte to the city’s Public Art Commission! The Public Art Commission is a 9-person community board, whose role is to oversee the selection of artwork for the Public Art Program.
The Link Building at Bojangles’-Ovens Auditorium Approved by City Council
Charlotte City Council has approved the new Link Building at Bojangles’-Ovens Auditorium. Odell was retained by the City of Charlotte and the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority to renovate the Coliseum and also to study options for improvements to the Coliseum and Auditorium Complex as a whole. The assessment of the existing facilities identified a lack of hospitality and amenity spaces, single point of entry for common events, and flexible support spaces between the two existing facilities.
High Point Selects Design-Build Team for Ballpark
High Point, North Carolina
The City of High Point has selected the Design-Build team of Samet/Odell for their new downtown baseball stadium. The team also includes Freeman Kennett and Stimmel Associates. The stadium is planned to seat approximately 5,000 for baseball games and about 7,500 for concerts and other events. The ballpark is slated to be ready for the beginning of the 2019 minor league baseball season. Odell is also assisting the city with its master plan to accompany surrounding projects.
Second Harvest Food Bank Under Construction
Charlotte, North Carolina
Second Harvest Food Bank is building a 38,000 SF addition to its existing facility. The new addition and renovation will feature a warehouse expansion accompanied by a new loading dock that will provide 4 functional dock locations, relocated agency store, and other renovations to improve efficiency. Additionally the project will include a new lobby and visitor center, board room, and administration offices located on the second floor. The new and improved facility is scheduled to complete construction this year.
