Project Description

Luverne Community Hospital

Luverne, MN
Part of Sanford Health, formerly Sioux Valley Health Network, Luverne Community serves as a 27-bed critical access hospital. Services included informative discussions with the owner concerning construction costs, operational impacts and multiple other factors relevant in the decision making. Sioux Valley Health Network decided to construct a facility at a new site to establish a signature prototype for a “rural hub” facility. The design team discovered a strategic location that would enhance the hospital’s mission to provide services to smaller communities in its area in lieu of sending families to the larger tertiary care campus. The new hospital design provides for expanded programs in orthopedic surgery, wellness and cardiology rehab, as well as clinical facilities for outreach specialists. Integrated with the local physicians, these programs provide a holistic and community approach to patient care in this rural setting.
