Liberty University – Vines Dome Replacement

ODELL was hired to replace the 30-year-old existing dome roof on the 10,000 seat Vines Arena in the heart of the Liberty University campus. The existing dome roof had outlived its useful life, had numerous water, moisture and acoustic issues and had limited rigging capacity for a concert performance.

The design of the new roof blends the overall profile of the building into the surrounding campus context and masterplan with updated materials and colors. The new structure is a clear span roof, made up of 18 radial trusses that converge into a central hub. The new truss system provides a higher rigging capacity to host a wide range of performance events, a catwalk for ease of access and much improved acoustics for the facility.
