Lutheran Services Carolinas has led the culture change revolution by developing communities where elders enjoy living and employees enjoy working. Culture change describes the movement away from medical, hospital-like model of care and emphasizes the “home” in nursing home. This 120-bed skilled nursing facility is organized into four neighborhoods, each with its own kitchen, dining room, living room, and children’s play area. These neighborhoods are connected by a central area which offers a chapel, therapy gym, salon, and auditorium. Each neighborhood has an outdoor courtyard area with a fountain and seating areas. There is also an outdoor playground for visiting children.
