The University of North Carolina School of Dentistry Addition is a six-story, 95,000 square foot, Clinical Care facility. The UNC School of Dentistry is ranked number two in the nation according to a recent survey of dental school administrators by U. S. News and World Report magazine. Five floors of the new building are connected to the existing Dental School and the addition provides a new patient entrance for both buildings and houses the main patient care clinics of the school.

The new building provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities for teaching and faculty practice. Continuing education programs for practicing dentists also benefit from the expanded facilities. The building provides 272 new dental treatment suites for a number of clinical services including admitting and emergency services, endodontics, special care, geriatrics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, radiology, a pain clinic, sedation/implants, dental faculty practice, and two large comprehensive care clinics.

The treatment suites are equipped for the latest computer and dental equipment technology. A majority of the suites are in an open plan configuration with four foot, eight inch high partition divisions to facilitate student supervision and efficiency of patient care. The facility also includes patient accounting, central sterilization and patient records.
