This project consists of creating replacement facilities for existing undersized and inflexible facilities built almost fifty years ago, which are located between active GA functions. The planned location for the new facility is on an undeveloped portion of the property across the primary runway from the current location, allowing for future growth potential in both Commercial and GA facilities.
Phase One consists in part of the development of a new emergency access road to the airfield, providing an alternative to the current access which is hampered by a railroad crossing handling 60-70 trains per day. The other portion of this phase is the development of a new ARFF facility of 12,000 SF, replacing temporary facilities currently located in a reconditioned hangar.
Phase Two consists planning of a new 28,000 SF two-story facility to act as a gateway to the Southwest Arkansas/ Northeast Texas region. The current facility, built in 1959, and updated twice to accommodate expansion and changes in aviation security, is undersized and unable to expand in the current location.
