The Roanoke Regional Airport Terminal is a 95,000 GSF functional, flexible and cost efficient facility master planned to accommodate any number of future alterations and additions. The Airport Commission’s goals provided the foundation of the final solution. The parking lot is submerged four feet below the level of the access road for increased terminal visibility as one approaches. A vaulted concourse with clerestory views to the sky lead to the boarding lounges. Conversely, the deplaning passenger enters the same vaulted concourse leading to a bowed lobby atop the grand stairs overlooking a two-story glass "picture window" to the valley, mountains, and City of Roanoke beyond.
