The Carolina Heart Institute is 77,000 square feet of new space on five floors. It houses six new open heart surgery/heart transplant surgical rooms, a fourteen-bed cardiovascular recovery intensive care unit, a twenty-bed medical coronary care unit, new cardiopulmanary diagnostic and treatment areas, family reception, waiting consultation space, and physicians offices and conference space. There is a helicopter landing facility on top with a large elevator access to lower floors.
