Remaining faithful to the original facility plan, the Maternity Center is located on the 3rd Level abutting the existing Maternity Level (which will be converted to office, education and staff support space). The 2nd Level is reserved for Mechanical Rooms to include air handlers and electrical equipment. Also, much needed Storage space is built on this level. At the 1st Level new features include a large covered canopy, expanded Outpatient Registration and Waiting, and a sizable Emergency Room expansion.
The Existing 3rd Level Maternity includes 19 Postpartum rooms, 8 LDR rooms, 1 C-Section room, 19 Newborn Nursery bassinets, and 4 Special Care bassinets. Current conditions are cramped and crowded with a minimum of family amenity and staff support space. For the new Maternity Center, the LDPR model is to be implemented, to include 28 LDRP rooms with additional rooms for growth potential, 1 C-Section room, 28 Newborn bassinets in two adjacent nurseries, and 4 Special Care bassinets. From the 1st Level Lobby, convenient new hospital elevators transport Mothers-to-be and their families to a Central Nurse Station on the 3rd Level Maternity floor.
