The Memorial Regional Medical Center Replacement Hospital, Medical Office Building and Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Replacement Hospital project is being recognized as leading a paradigm shift in health care planning and design towards a “Family Focused Care” design concept. The new Hospital is designed based on a true Care Center organizational/operating structure for the delivery of inpatient and outpatient services. The traditional centralized nursing and services concept has been unbundled with caregiver and services deployed to the patient bedside. The Facility is designed to encourage involvement of the family in the healing process. Family living rooms with “homestyle” amenities along with oversized patient rooms with built-in “sleepers” are enablers to engaging the family in the care delivery process.
